Finding yourself.

Through all of these interviews I’m realizing more and more how there is no blueprint for having a creative career.

So many singers I’ve spoken with stopped singing sometimes for a decade because their spouse said they’d never make it, or parents didn’t understand it as a career choice, or some “expert” told them they were too old.

The world certainly is full of opinions. I think creatives and specifically singers are a special breed.

Singing is a calling that can’t be denied and even when it opens up a door to another career—like acting or running a music licensing agency—it never quite leaves.

I think one through line for all of the working singers I’ve interviewed is that they had to learn who they were apart from others opinions (and good intentions) and define their truth for themselves.

Your personal truth and the direction of your life can be dictated nowhere else but in your own heart.
